How Does It Work?
The Botox®/Dysport® chemical, known as Botulinum toxin, is injected into your facial muscles with a very fine needle. The injections work by blocking certain chemical signals responsible for muscle contractions in the face. The injection will temporarily relax facial muscles that are used repeatedly.
The number of injections will depend on the area being treated and your aesthetic goals. It may take three to seven days to take full effect, and patients find the creases in their skin will smooth out and relax. Botox®/Dysport® can last three to four months, and as the muscle’s action begins to return, you can be treated again.
What Can I Expect?

It is normal to experience some redness, mild swelling and minor bruising after a Botox®/Dysport® treatment; however, these side effects are rare and dissipate within a few days of treatment. Botox®/Dysport® does not require any downtime or recovery period, and you may resume normal activities after your appointment. It is important to avoid rubbing or massaging the areas that have been treated for at least 24 hours.
